Sean P. Milligan

Education

Sean Milligan graduated from Emmannuel College in Boston in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in English Communications-Journalism. Sean then attended Vermont Law School where he focused on criminal law and comparative constitutional law. He also studied French constitutional and criminal law at the University of Paris Panthéon-Sorbonne.

History

Between undergraduate and Law School, Sean moved back to his native Portland, Maine where he oversaw the expansion of a composting start-up from residential service to engaging restaurants, office buildings, and schools. Simultaneously, he wrote articles as a freelance journalist, covering such topics as the South Portland Tar Sands Moratorium, local colleges, and a women’s prison reintegration program.

Practice

During Law School, Sean received the Chase Fellowship for public interest work completed at New Hampshire Legal Assistance. He was also awarded the Zander Rubin Fellowship for excellence in academics and commitment to representing the disadvantaged for his work as an intern with the Vermont Defender General’s Prisoners’ Rights Office.

Experience

Sean joined Furlan & Associates in 2019. His legal experience includes representation of clients in criminal and civil courts, including DUIs, serious felonies, divorce, parental rights and responsibilities, and juvenile law, as well as landlord-tenant disputes.

Personal

In his free time, Attorney Milligan enjoys listening to the Allman Brothers Band, Nas, and Bruce Springsteen. He spends his free time exploring the Vermont outdoors with his wife and German Shepherd, traveling Europe and North America, and swimming in the Atlantic Ocean when he returns home to Maine.
